WINTER 2005 - UPDATE TO THE ORIGINAL SET OF PHOTOS
In late November 2004 the owners of MV Well Deserved, Tom and Jackie Hawkes, went missing from their boat which was tied to their mooring ball in Newport Beach, California. Subsequently the Newport Police arrested a number of people and charged them with the murders of Tom and Jackie. The Orange County Prosecutor alleges that Tom and Jackie took several people out to sea on Well Deserved as part of the sea trial in anticipation of selling her. The charging documents state that while in the Pacific Ocean the prospective purchasers tied Tom and Jackie to the boat's anchor and threw them overboard.
This case has received national attention. The prosecutor and Ryan, Tom's eldest son, appeared with Larry King to discuss the case. There have also been several TV shows produced about the episode.
